    Description

    Vessel Lamps is one of the most hand-made pieces in Marco Calhau‘s catalogue. Inspired by simple forms such as mycology, the columns of the Greco-Roman period, and giwa, the roof tiles of Korean architecture, the project is designed and produced in an artisan-sculptural way.

    The tulips are hand-thrown in-house at the studio’s pottery workspace, in terracotta, and enamelled at 980ºC. With the aim of learning by working and creating slowly, the pedestals are made from naturally fallen logs — no tree is cut down to make these lamps. Brass hardware holds the tulips to their pedestals.
