Designer Wall Cabinets — Wall-Mounted Storage That Reads as Furniture
A wall cabinet occupies a specific territory between open shelving and a piece of furniture — it conceals, it composes, and when done well it changes the character of a wall entirely. This is a small, deliberate collection: eight pieces currently, each from an independent designer, each with a distinct material logic and a reason to exist beyond generic storage. In oak and steel, aluminium and brass, leather and bio plastic. Prices from €330.
The Pieces
The Plĭco wall cabinet by Atelier Nuanda is among the more architecturally confident pieces in the collection — a solid wall-mounted cabinet available in standard and narrow formats, with a presence that works in both residential and hospitality contexts. The Tabernaculum in aluminium and brass sits closer to a reliquary than a storage unit, occupying the boundary between cabinet and object. The Future Heirlooms Cabinet by Ebba Lovisalindgren takes a different approach entirely — soft in tone, considered in its materiality, and named with intent. The Aurum Box series in gold-finished steel offers a formal contrast to all of them: geometric, precise, and unambiguous about what it is. Each piece is worth looking at on its own page before deciding.
Wall Cabinets vs. Wall Shelves — Knowing Which You Need
The question of whether to go open or closed usually comes down to what you're storing and how the wall is being read. Open wall shelves keep things visible and accessible — they work when the objects themselves are part of the composition. Wall cabinets bring order to things you'd rather contain: bathroom essentials, bar supplies, documents, everyday items that accumulate. In a well-designed space, the two often work together. For floor-standing storage, see the broader cabinets collection.
Made to Order, Direct from the Studio
Most pieces here are made to order, which means there's often more flexibility on finish and dimension than the product page suggests. Every designer on ADORNO has a transparent studio profile — if you have a specific brief, contacting them directly is both possible and encouraged. For larger projects or multi-piece specifications, the Trade Program gives registered professionals direct access, and the Curation Service can help narrow a shortlist if the brief calls for it.
