Description

Noosphere is a luminaire by Catrinel Sabaciag that plays with perception, its name borrowed from the term for the sphere of human consciousness and mental activity. Holographic technology brings a sphere shape to life at the centre of the piece, its curved surfaces shifting as the viewer moves around it.

Dichromatic filters create a colour-shifting effect, so the spectrum of light, reflection and shadow changes with the viewing angle and the surrounding light. Remote, app or voice control (Alexa, Google Home, Siri) drives a full RGB spectrum with pre-set colour-changing programmes, adaptable from party lighting synced to music to a soft night lamp or accent light.

This is the Nude option: the central part emits blush pink, the rear disk a subtle blue, and the piece casts a light-green glow on the wall.

Can be wall- or ceiling-mounted, connected via socket or wall cables. Light source: 21W, 2700lm, 2700–6500K, 220–240V. Lifespan: approx. 25,000 hours.

Catrinel’s work straddles between product design, installation, and sculpture. Her multidisciplinary approach often finds its roots in science and philosophy, whilst the making, quite experimental, is oriented towards material exploration.Catrinel’s work is driven by her interests in perception and movement. The themes she tackles most are time perception, entropy, light and nature.Through her interactive objects, she designs experiences that challenge perception and visualize the invisible forces that surround in an engaging manner. This brings reality in a new light, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.In her process, she uses a mix of advanced manufacturing techniques such as laser cutting and hands-on ones such as casting. The objects often embody a scaffolding of technical components, which is used to mimic an organic/natural inspired phenomena.
