    Description

    Touch My Buddy (T.M.B) is a sculptural floor lamp which is the human-size version of the Plank N Play table lamp. The design consists of just 2 parts, the base which is attached to the power supply, and the wooden plank that houses an L.E.D panel. When the base is slotted to the wood, it doesn’t just offer structural stability, it transfers current from the power supply to the L.E.D panel on the wood through hidden magnetic connectors. With the use of a hidden sensor in the back of the wood the user can adjust the light intensity with touch.

    The idea behind T.M.B is one of interaction, connection, and collaboration. Each part is essential for the other’s functionality, and of course, the user is essential too. The design decision of simple form, honest materials, and the contradicting use of elements like slotting wood into concrete and the cable popping out of the terrazzo are all part of my purpose to trigger curiosity. This intrigues users to explore and further discover the product.
