Description

The Practice Chair embodies the creative philosophy of Studio Fabius Colvis, where design is viewed not as a static achievement but as an ever-evolving process of refinement, exploration, and reinvention. Rooted in a deep commitment to continuous learning and craftsmanship, the chair reflects a living dialogue between artist and material, thought and execution.

These practice-driven creations serve as dynamic expressions of the studio’s ethos, illustrating how experimentation and iteration shape both the process and the final work. The Practice Chair is a functional object and a statement of artistic intent—a physical representation of creative growth through exploration and mastery.

Through the lens of ‘Practice as a Mindset,’ the studio invites its audience to engage with both the finished pieces and the journey behind them. It celebrates making as a meaningful process where progress, curiosity, and transformation take center stage. With each iteration, the Practice Chair pushes the boundaries of design, blending thoughtful craftsmanship with artistic ingenuity in a constant pursuit of innovation.

About Studio Fabius Clovis Visit Showroom →

Utrecht-born artist designer Pepijn Fabius Clovis is a name that's been quietly gaining momentum in the Dutch design scene. With his innovative, functional, and sustainable creations, Clovis has quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with. Graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2021, he had already founded Studio Fabius Clovis a year prior. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and design acumen, Clovis created and sold his first collection through Homestock before even completing his studies. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and he has won several publications for his designs. As his career continues to soar, Pepijn Fabius Clovis is poised to become a leading figure in the international design landscape. His work is inspired by everyday objects and (waste)materials, which he transforms into unique and unexpected pieces. His use of recycled materials demonstrates his commitment to ethical design. He is particularly interested in exploring the boundaries between art and design, and creating objects that are both beautiful and functional.Concept'Practice' is a philosophy rooted in the belief that the most profound beauty can be found in the ordinary. By focusing on the process and highlighting the steps involved in everyday crafts, we aim to elevate the mundane to the extraordinary.Vision'Practice' aims to challenge traditional notions of art and design by demonstrating that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places. Our work will be characterized by its simplicity, authenticity, and appreciation for the everyday.Key ValuesAuthenticity: We will strive to create honest and genuine work that reflects our personal experiences and values.Sustainability: Our designs will prioritize timelessness as the largest factor in sustainability.By embracing the philosophy of Practice, we believe that we can create meaningful and enduring objects (and collections) that inspire and connect with people on a profound level.
