FAQ
Is this a one-of-a-kind piece?

Yes, this is a unique piece and part of a limited-edition series called The Ancestors, so no two are identical.

What is the lamp made of?

It combines clay-coiled terracotta and stoneware with rattan weaving, blown glass, and metal elements.

Does the piece include a light bulb, and can it be dimmed?

The data doesn't specify the bulb type or dimmability — the maker can confirm, use Chat with the maker on this page.

Can I return this piece if I change my mind?

Yes, a 14-day return policy applies since this is not made-to-order but an existing unique piece.

Description

The Ancestors is a limited-edition light collection, each piece a unique, goddess-like sculpture meant to be viewed from every angle. The series was developed as a collaborative project with weaver Denise Berekmeri, built over two years of research into raw materials — clay, metal and wicker — chosen as much for their durability as for how they age over time, without any coating to slow that natural process.

Using old techniques like clay coiling, multiple cylinder-like shapes are stacked on top of one another to form three stand-alone totemic sculptures, each one woven through with rattan and shaped around light, evoking a mythical being from the past: Thulani the quiet one, Nightjar the bird of night, and Badru, born on a full moon.

This piece is Thulani.
