Curvita comes from Laluz Handcraft, an Ecuador-based design house, and takes its inspiration from the quiet moments between rains in the Ecuadorian rainforest — the energy passing between insects, plants, and soil, and especially the dance of water droplets falling from the treetops to the ground.
Its flowing form is hand-sculpted into solid, fair-trade Huarango wood as a series of asymmetrical curves, with vertical stripes of naturally black Chonta wood adding movement against the lighter grain. The lamp’s electrical components use custom-made solid bronze hardware on the exterior, with black plastic components housed inside.
Though completely asymmetrical in form, the lamp stays stable thanks to a carefully aligned centre and the grounding weight of solid wood construction throughout.
The lamp can be customised to work in any country.
