Defined by bold, pure geometric forms, the design translates the scale and austerity of Brutalist structures, like the Palace of Assembly, into a functional, sculptural chair.     'by aman' is the brainchild of Aman Mehta, an Indian designer based in Milan and Mumbai. Trained as an architect, he went on to complete a Masters in Milan, where he now lives and works. The practice sits at the intersection of two worlds: the deep craft heritage of India and the rigour of European design thinking.His work begins with a question, "what memory does an object?" Each piece in the studio's collection is rooted in a specific cultural moment, material tradition, or act of making that deserves to be remebered. Through the language of sculptural furniture, these elements & histories are given new form; objects that belong entirely in the present, yet carry the quiet memory of the past.
