Sculptural and poetic, Théros Orbita pairs a minimalist, monochromatic aesthetic with a strong material presence. Its tall, slender silhouette, glowing opalina-glass head, and signature straw hat give the piece an almost lifelike presence, like a figure lost in summer thought.
Orbita is the latest chapter in the Théros collection by designer Aristotelis Barakos, a long-term project exploring Mediterranean experiences through contemporary design, rooted in Barakos’s own memories of summer holidays in Greece. Those memories take shape in the design’s recognisable elements: the simple, balanced marble form, the sun-evoking opalina-glass globe, and the handwoven straw hat perched playfully on top.
The piece is co-created by Barakos and ceramicist Giannis Zois, following their sold-out Théros Ceramic Limited Edition. For Orbita, the terracotta body has been replaced with a sleek, dark-brown stoneware base, glazed and then hand-engraved to create the horizontal rings that give the piece its name — a tactile rhythm that enhances the contrast between glazed and unglazed surfaces and lets light dance gently across the ceramic.
Like all pieces in the Théros collection, these lamps are entirely handmade in Athens and can be customised on request to work in any country. Offered in small and large sizes.
