This Soft Ply table lamp is designer Sheyang Li’s study in turning a fragile material resilient. The shade is pieced together from a patchwork of birch, poplar, and white willow veneer, cut and joined the way you’d work textile or paper — small, precise sections built up into a surface that reads as both intricate and sturdy. The visible joins aren’t hidden; the design celebrates repair and ornament rather than smoothing them away.

A minimal aluminium base carries the shade, keeping the visual attention on the patchwork veneer above it and giving the piece a warm, tactile presence.
