An archaic-looking form that, at first glance, appears to have been cut from a single piece, is given a new dimension by today‘s material processing possibilities.
When working with materials, we analyze what the material itself has to offer and how people worked with it in the past. Materials have a lot of different possibilities, and to cherish these, we try to keep the design simple and focused on the material.

The tables are handcrafted in our studio and get their unique blackened finish by hand. A thin protective layer is the result. The surface is powder coated afterward to protect the steel from corrosion. In this technique, the metal develops its own character regarding the formation of colour.
This depends on factors such as the duration of the blackening‘s contact with the metal, the method of application, and the amount of liquid used. You‘ll notice a variety of shades (colour variances) rather than a uniform colour, ranging from raw steel to brownish-grey to dark grey. A naturally unique look is the result, which cannot be replicated because steel is a natural product with its own characteristics.
