Description

The Extreme Il is a wall lamp by TUNK — a homage to the once ubiquitous fluorescent tube. Once emblematic of industrial efficiency and anonymous functionality, the fluorescent is here re-contextualized as a collectible relic.

Mounted to the wall using laboratory clamps, it is treated not as a utilitarian object but as a rare specimen — something to be preserved, studied, even revered. With its trailing wires and glowing core, it hovers between utility and fragility, science and memory. The artist refers to fluorescent lights as an “endangered species”, elevating them from overlooked objects of mass production into singular artifacts of a disappearing era. Now too unstable and inefficient for the standards of today’s design industry, they begin to resemble objects destined for the curiosity cabinets of the future.

  • Materials: T8 fluorescent tubes (cool white and warm white), aluminum mounting profile, laboratory-grade metal clamps, insulated wiring
  • Light source: 3 × T8 linear fluorescent tubes
  • Tube diameter: 26 mm
  • Color temperature: White, Pink, yellow
  • Wattage: 36W per tube
  • Power supply: 220–240V AC
  • Mounting: wall-mounted via dual laboratory clamps (steel with rubber grip)
  • Indoor use only. Electrical connection required by certified personnel.

About TUNK I Busra Tunc Visit Showroom →

The work of architect and artist Buşra Tunç focuses on perception and experience in space. Her interdisciplinary approach creates ambient atmospheres, which need to get experienced to unfold their aesthetic narratives. Tunç designs spatial experiences, which appear like realms of light, where frequency, intensity and colour temperature fuse with auditory patterns. The composed soundscapes assemble noise, sonic acts and human voice. The body of her architecture is build through a modified reuse of industrial materials to question their normative contexts and functions which determine our everyday life. Her engineered physical structures breathe the old heritage of vast megalopolises and forgotten factory sites, creating a tension between the inside and outside to provide gateways into other spheres. The experienced realities take the audience through levels of intimacy and creative thrill by stimulating visionary imaginations.www.tuncbusra.com https://www.instagram.com/tuncbu/ https://tunkstudio.com/ https://www.instagram.com/tunkstudiotunk/
