Description

White Lotus Seed Pod is a handbuilt ceramic sculpture from the Floral Studies series, in which botanical forms are translated into ceramic structures. Inspired by the distinctive form of a lotus seed pod, the work combines a broad, irregular upper form with a narrow cylindrical base. Openings of different sizes are arranged across the surface, while subtle irregularities and asymmetry remain visible throughout the piece.
The white glaze is applied unevenly, allowing variations in the surface and warm-toned areas of exposed clay to remain visible along the edges and inside the openings. Unlike the sculptural vessels in the series, this work is conceived primarily as a sculptural object.
Each piece from the Floral Studies series is individually handbuilt, so variations in silhouette, proportions and surface are an integral part of the work.

Stoneware. White glaze, with warm-toned areas of exposed clay. Fired at 1250°C.
