Description

Structure of heritage. Testament of time.
A stool is one of the most essential human artifacts — a universal shape that has supported bodies, tools, and stories since the dawn of making. It is an object so deeply ingrained in our collective memory that it feels almost beyond design. Yet through design, it can be reawakened.

This edition of the Heritage Series is born from a collaboration across generations — a joint exploration with my father that bridges inherited knowledge with future possibilities. Together, we developed a unique casting process for the seat, where no two results are ever the same. Each seat becomes a singular artifact, distinguished by its bold, high-contrast color combinations, revealing an unpredictable beauty within the industrial language.

The base is formed from 2mm, 320-grit stainless steel, bent and bolted with deliberate playfulness. Like the bookstand, it draws structural influence from military and marine engineering — evoking a readiness for impact, a resilience against time, and a sense of unapologetic presence.

This hybrid of cast and steel generates a powerful duality: softness against hardness, vivid colors against cold metal, spontaneity against precision. Every detail is the result of intense research — from the casting temperatures to the grain orientation of the steel, every decision aimed at balancing efficiency, durability, and expressive force.

A single accent remains: the studio’s 3020 signal red tag, placed at the rear of the base. It cuts through the material honesty like a beacon — a coded message of intention and authorship.

This stool holds more than its occupant. It holds a story of transmission — of skill, of material understanding, of heritage made tangible. It elevates the simple act of sitting into a ritual of remembrance and respect.

First edition. A statement of generational knowledge. A vessel of its own.

Studio Zoran Strijbosch blends industrial aesthetics, historical influences, and contemporary craftsmanship into timeless design. Each piece tells a story—of material, movement, and meaning. Studio Zoran Strijbosch is driven by an unwavering passion for the fusion of (art) history and design. Our work blends industrial aesthetics, historical influences, and contemporary craftsmanship into timeless objects—each piece telling a story of material, movement, and meaning. With a deep respect for the past, we create high-quality, handcrafted designs that bridge eras, inviting people to engage with objects in a more tactile and meaningful way. For us, design is not just about form or function; it’s about crafting immersive experiences that transport, resonate, and endure. Zoran Strijbosch is a designer whose passion for materials and production began at a young age. As a child, he spent a lot of time in his father’s factory, Strijbosch Acrylics Unlimited, in Amsterdam. From the age of 16, he worked in production at SAU, which further developed his curiosity and skills. This hands-on experience led him to study product design at the HKU, where he honed his expertise in acrylic materials. With his own workshop in Amsterdam, Zoran has the freedom to create handcrafted products that bring his design vision to life. Beyond his work, Zoran has a deep love for his city, Amsterdam, his football club Ajax, and a passion for the Casual lifestyle and fashion. These diverse interests converge at Studio Zoran Strijbosch, where he expresses his creative vision in every piece he designs.
