Description

Designed by Dylan CASASNOVAS, edited by 13Desserts.
Josian is a lounge chair produced in rattan and molded oak plywood.
In his design, the designer took advantage of the flexibility and resistance of these two combined materials.
By splitting it in two before bending, the rattan liana is optimized, which allows a more efficient assembly and a minimalist look.
The ambition was to offer an innovative design by reappropriating an ancient artisanal technique and exploiting the incredible properties of the rattan liana.

About the designer

13 Desserts

13Desserts is an independent design label with a multidisciplinary approach dedicated to the creation, production and promotion of design pieces. Since its creation in 2020, we have been offering the work of emerging designers and established artists through exhibitions and collections produced in limited editions. All sharing a common aesthetic: « Côte d\'Azur ». Our vision and our practices today push us to develop and promote daring creations through collaborations with designers and artisans from various backgrounds. This bias allows us to explore new production avenues and respond to an intention of sustainable consumption. Objects and pieces of furniture produced on a human scale are the result of close collaboration between designers, the label and artisans. We also attach great importance to respecting an entirely French production. This geographical proximity allows us to pay particular attention to each project.

Presenting “PROXIMITY”, a collection created in collaboration with Southern Sweden Design Days showcasing a selection of new work from ten designers and studios. As a whole, the collection contemplates the notion of proximity, interconnection, and belonging. Whether through contemporary references to traditional crafts techniques; the use of locally sourced materials such as wool, lichen, steel, and wood; or playful visualisations of the notion itself, the selected pieces illustrate the importance of closeness, interconnection, and kinship in uncertain times. Featuring pieces by Andrea Santivanez, Andréason & Leibel, Ebba Lindgren, Förstberg Ling, Jóna Berglind Stefánsdóttir, Lab La Bla, Lisa Darland, Louise Hederström, Moa Lönn, and Studio M. Organised by Form/Design Center in Malmö, Sweden, Southern Sweden Design Days is an annual event currently in its second edition, which highlights sustainability, collaboration, development, and innovation in design. This year’s theme, as described by the event organisers, “[reflects] on the notion of being close – the connection between people, cities, countries, species, professions, etc”. The physical exhibition of “PROXIMITY” will take place at Lokstallarna, Södra Bulltoftavägen 51, 212 22 Malmö from 19 - 22 May 2022.
