Alberto Sánchez is a Spanish designer and co-founder of Mut Design Studio. Alongside his work in the studio, he has recently developed BERTO, a platform dedicated to collectible design that allows him to explore a more personal and experimental dimension of his practice. His work is driven by a strong interest in geometry, material exploration and the emotional capacity of objects. Rather than understanding design purely as a functional exercise, Sánchez approaches it as a language capable of creating atmospheres, narratives and sensory experiences. His practice often investigates the relationship between form, light and structure, working with materials such as glass, ceramics and metal to generate pieces that exist somewhere between design and sculpture. A recurring theme in his work is the search for balance between precision and expressiveness: geometric rigor coexists with subtle irregularities produced by craftsmanship and manual processes. This dialogue between industrial logic and artisanal knowledge has become central to his approach. Sánchez studied product design in Valencia, where he developed an early interest in how objects mediate our relationship with space and perception. His background in contemporary design culture and his collaborations with manufacturers and artisans have shaped a methodology that values experimentation, material research and close collaboration with production processes. Across both studio projects and collectible works, Sánchez consistently explores how objects can hold emotional resonance while maintaining clarity and formal restraint. His pieces aim to create quiet yet powerful presences, where geometry, light and materiality interact to produce depth, rhythm and spatial tension.
