Lapso is a pendant lamp by Natural Urbano — Sebastián Beltrán. Named for the interval between states, it treats illumination as duration rather than instant: light, held as time.
The lamp is made with Celium™, a premium cultivated cellulose grown by bacteria and produced by Polybion, in its translucent version. The material shifts with light to reveal gradients, textures and a quiet rhythm. Hand-crafted from five sheets of cultivated bacterial cellulose, each Lapso is unique — a pioneering collectible where art, biology and design converge. As the bacteria grow they form cellulose sheets with patterns that are never identical, and subtle shifts in texture, density and tone emerge naturally. These variations are signatures, giving every lamp its own character.
The lamp is available in two editions:
Natural — a honey-toned hue that reflects the material’s origin
Humo — a dyed darker variation
The intention is not to impose a fixed reading, but to evoke — to open a space of contemplation and quiet wonder. Some versions resemble glowing volcanic stone, others evoke warmth, like sun through skin. The aim is presence, not spectacle.
