Kafka Lunge Chair is part of the In Situ collectible furniture collection developed in collaboration with the furniture brand Arbore. It pairs a soft upholstered volume with a base of repeated metal columns. The seating element reads almost like a condensed office interior, while the understructure introduces rhythm, weight, and a sense of endless repetition. Wood frames the cushion like a shallow tray, holding comfort above a rigid architectural grid.
For this collection, I approached furniture as reduced architecture: fragments of larger systems, structural archetypes condensed into objects. Stepped volumes, arches, and load-bearing forms are not quoted directly, but reassembled through proportion, repetition, and weight. What Interests me is not representation, but presence. Underlying the work is a resistance to disposability. In a landscape shaped by overproduction and acceleration,
I choose density over abundance, and value grounded in material, effort, and time. In my view, design should remain a revolutionary endeavor, not by chasing novelty, but by refusing to conform to cycles of reform or reaction. It must continue to question systems of production, value, and use, rather than simply adapting to them.
