The FRIDA Bench is a sculptural solid wood bench inspired by brutalist architecture, monolithic forms, and modular design. Crafted from solid Bossé cedar, its repeated blocks and strong horizontal proportions create a powerful architectural presence while allowing the natural warmth and movement of the wood to remain visible.
The composition combines massive end blocks with an elongated central beam, creating a balanced rhythm of horizontal and vertical volumes. The low profile emphasizes the relationship between mass, shadow, and surrounding space, while the rich grain and tonal variation of Bossé cedar soften the otherwise monumental geometry.
FRIDA’s modular construction allows additional blocks to be incorporated beneath the main structure, adapting the piece to different heights and uses. Depending on its configuration, it can function as a low bench, TV console, display platform, or architectural storage piece.
A narrow opening between the upper wooden surfaces adds visual lightness and practical functionality. When used outdoors, this discreet separation allows water to drain while preserving the clean geometry of the design.
Combining solid Bossé cedar, modular construction, sculptural furniture design, and brutalist influences, the FRIDA Bench is both a functional furniture piece and a collectible design object. Its adaptable structure and natural material character create a distinctive balance between monumental form, warmth, and versatility.
