Cumulo is a luminous object combining solid wood and alabaster, conceived as a poetic interpretation of the sky’s changing light. Connected to an internal clock, the piece slowly evolves in colour throughout the day, translating different moments of daylight into a subtle luminous presence rather than showing time through numbers or hands.
The work explores the relationship between biological rhythm, natural light and contemporary ways of experiencing time; inspired by clouds and their constant transformation, Cumulo invites contemplation and a slower, more sensitive perception of the passing day.
Each piece is handcrafted from solid wood and natural alabaster. The stone’s translucency and veining diffuse the integrated light, so every Cumulo differs slightly, and the combination of wood, stone and programmable light sets up a dialogue between natural material and technology. Cumulo exists in different combinations of wood and alabaster, each piece keeping the individual character of its own materials.
