    Description

    The Fina chair by Mike Hausmann was born from the intention to create a light, as simple as possible chair, featuring very slender sections — Fina meaning “fine” or “delicate” in Spanish — while employing various cabinetmaking techniques that reveal the high level of craftsmanship involved. It is a blend of Mediterranean simplicity and Japanese philosophy.

    The backrest is made through a process of laminating thin wooden veneers, glued and shaped in a mould. The stretchers are gently curved to better accommodate the seated posture, and both the side stretchers and the backrest are joined to the legs using through mortise and tenon joints, reinforced with wedges. This method ensures a union that is both chemically solid (through the glue) and mechanically strong (through the wedges).
    In addition, the legs have been turned with a variable section to further enhance the lightness of the design.

    It can be done in a bright and dark oiled finishes.

    Mike Hausmann is a furniture maker and designer based in Barcelona, specializing in the creation of unique, custom-made wooden pieces. Although he initially trained as an engineer in France, at the age of 24 he chose to change his professional path and immerse himself in the world of carpentry and artisanal design. Since then, he has worked in the field of product design and now runs his own workshop in Barcelona, where he creates bespoke furniture for both private clients and businesses, nationally and internationally. His approach to craftsmanship is rooted in a profound respect for trees, preserving their natural imperfections and highlighting the inherent beauty bestowed by nature. In essence, Mike Hausmann blends his technical background with a deep passion for wood and artisanal design, offering unique pieces that reflect his dedication, sensitivity, and creativity in the realm of furniture making.
