“No two beings exist in exactly the same form.”
This piece was created for Dutch Design Week 2024, beginning from the belief that no two beings are ever truly identical. It is composed of a real dried mushroom, discovered by chance at a shop in Eindhoven, and a natural stone collected directly from the sea in Kiel, Germany.
Rather than using processed materials, the work incorporates natural elements that carry their own passage of time and physical traces, aiming to reveal the inherent stories embedded within them. While it functions as a light, it also exists as a sculptural object — holding its form and presence even when turned off. When illuminated, it interacts with light to create organic, shifting shadows. All aspects of the design, fabrication and assembly were carried out by the artist.
Handling: the mushroom component has been chemically treated for preservation and hardened, but it remains delicate. Please avoid handling or lifting the piece by the mushroom itself.
