    Description

    Faro pairs the raw, textured character of a concrete base with a mouth-blown glass shade, made by Finnish studio Aalto+Aalto to evoke a coastal, weathered feel. Each concrete base and glass shade in the series is a unique creation — the asymmetry of the shade and the rough surface of the base are intentional, not flaws.

    The light grey glass, mouth-blown in the Finnish village of Nuutajärvi, conceals the light source until the lamp is switched on, at which point it reveals a subtle play of light through the glass. Faro was first shown at the Puhdetyö exhibition during Helsinki Design Week in 2019, and has since been exhibited at Lokal Gallery in Helsinki.

    The lamp comes with a textile-covered cord, a European plug, and an E14 bulb that’s easily changed by lifting the glass shade.
