The Cloud Coffee Table by Sun at Six is our take on one of three types of kang tables, a feature of a Northern Chinese housing style with its own unique set of furniture.
The table features embellished apron head spandrels around the legs. The tabletop includes a frame (two long edges with tenons and two short edges with mortises) and a “floating” panel. The panel floats freely in the four edges, allowing it to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity.
The frame also includes recessed slots, allowing for mortise-and-tenon connections between the apron and legs. The table’s weight against the leg joints tightens the connections.
Solid makata wood. Handcrafted using traditional joinery without nails or screws.
