    Inspired by the Athena Sanctuary in Delphi, the Last Chair by Vincent Decat embodies the spirit of its final remnants. The design draws directly from the fragmented ruins of the classical monument, a symbol of strength in Delphi for over a millennium. The piece mirrors the sanctuary’s partial and worn state, unfinished beauty, and structural elegance through solid wood construction, matte finishes, and subtle steel accents. The bold blue finish contrasts with the natural surfaces, inviting reflection on the coexistence of ancient and modern aesthetics.

    The chair is part of the Ruins of Delphi series, consisting of sculptural furniture pieces reimagining ancient Greece through a contemporary lens.

    Vincent Decat is a Paris-based craft designer who graduated from the Design Academy of Eindhoven in 2023 and creates pieces that blend sculpture, design, and art. His design philosophy is centered around creating emotionally engaging pieces that last. He believes that the stronger our bond with an object, the more we care for it, protect it, and hold onto it. His work seeks to give objects a sense of life, transforming them into companions — like little pets — that people cherish and keep over time. By infusing his designs with creature-like qualities that seem to move and change, he makes them feel as alive as possible, encouraging a lasting, emotional attachment that grows over time.
