Description

Inspired by the Athena Sanctuary in Delphi, The Last Chair embodies the enduring legacy of Greece’s architectural heritage. The design draws directly from the fragmented ruins of the classical monument, a symbol of strength in Delphi for over a millennium. The piece mirrors the sanctuary’s partial and worn state, unfinished beauty, and structural elegance through solid wood construction, matte finishes, and subtle steel accents.
The chair is built from solid wood, held together by brass-finished steel tubes that create the illusion of floating fragments. Painted in a striking matte cobalt blue, it offers a contemporary interpretation of these ancient Greek ruins.

The chair is part of the Ruins of Delphi series, consisting of sculptural furniture pieces reimagining ancient Greece through a contemporary lens.

About Vincent Decat Visit Showroom →

"My pieces are intended to be companions rather than possessions. I give my objects organic, animated qualities, hoping that people will grow attached to them the way they would to a pet."Vincent Decat is a Paris-based artist and designer. Graduated from the Design Academy of Eindhoven, he creates collectible design pieces that integrate sculptural thinking into everyday use. His work is characterized by forms that suggest life and movement, pieces that seem to breathe or shift. These animal-like qualities transform functional objects into personal and engaging pieces. By creating pieces that feel almost alive, he encourages a relationship of care more than consumption. They become companions that people want to preserve and cherish over time.
