A formidable piece of lighting design that can also grace a space as a streamlined sculptural object when unlit, Taco de Luz Grande is a fully custom-designed studio edition by Studio Aristotelis Barakos. A celebration of craftsmanship and the studio’s hands-on approach to applied creativity, this sophisticated pendant is completely handmade in Greece, from its hand-hammered bronze reflector sheet to the tubular light source inside it.
Taco de Luz takes its name from its particular shape: an oval metal sheet that gently embraces and partly conceals the light source within. The design plays on the contrast between the sleek tubular bulb and the handmade texture of the hammered metal that contains it, balancing smooth and indented surfaces, linear and curved forms.
Taking this concept to a larger scale, Grande allows top-down illumination as an elegant pendant. Its minimalist form commands attention while keeping a refined profile, and the hand-hammered reflector allows for soft, wide diffusion; the object’s dynamic curvature lends it a sense of movement, as if floating in space. Well suited to dining tables, restaurants, reception areas and work desks.
