301 Design Studio is an Istanbul-based independent practice founded by architects Eren Kılıç and Yusuf Emre Yanık. The studio takes its name from Studio 301, the architecture-school space where the founders first met and began working together. Their architectural education continues to shape a practice that moves between furniture, objects, and space, approaching each piece as a small structure rather than an isolated aesthetic form. Proportion, material, detail, construction, and the relationship between an object and its surroundings are considered together from the earliest stages of design. 301 is particularly interested in the expressive and structural potential of industrial materials. Stainless steel, aluminium, plywood, and translucent PETG are explored through sheet forming, mechanical connections, digital fabrication, and large-format 3D printing. Rather than concealing how an object is made, the studio allows folds, edges, fasteners, and material transitions to remain legible. These elements are not treated as secondary technical details, but as active parts of the object’s character. The design process moves between digital modelling, physical prototyping, and workshop production, creating a direct dialogue between concept and making. Across its furniture and lighting collections, including the aluminium PLUS series, 301 investigates the territory between everyday function and collectible design. Familiar furniture typologies are reduced to their essential components and reconsidered through material behaviour, proportion, and methods of assembly. Industrial processes are brought into a domestic scale, producing objects that are precise without becoming anonymous and expressive without losing their practical purpose. Working from its Istanbul workshop, 301 Design Studio develops durable and carefully constructed pieces whose identity emerges from the logic of their materials and the clarity of their construction.
