Description

Luminous Shapes is an ongoing collection investigating how people read and interpret experimental product design — visitors often ask what a piece of sculptural furniture is actually for. Here, the sculpture comes first: once the right shape is found, a light source is placed inside it. Some pieces read clearly as a familiar type of lamp; others are more experimental, leaving the presence of the bulb as the only clue that the object is a lamp at all.

This piece, along with its sibling No. 01, is made from a composite material developed in-house by the studio, based on crushed granite and fish glue.
