The HUG Table is a sculptural solid wood dining table that expresses strength through simplicity. Crafted from solid chestnut wood, its architectural structure combines robust construction with a warm, tactile character, allowing material, proportion, and craftsmanship to define the design.
The distinctive base is formed by two solid chestnut beams that intersect and embrace one another, creating the table’s signature sculptural gesture. Inspired by the intimacy of an embrace, this crossing transforms a structural solution into an expressive and symbolic element.
The legs penetrate directly through the tabletop, leaving the intersections intentionally visible. Rather than concealing the construction, HUG celebrates the connection between its wooden components, turning the joinery into part of the table’s visual language. Viewed from above, these structural intersections become subtle architectural marks within the surface.
The generous solid chestnut tabletop preserves the natural grain, tonal variations, and subtle irregularities of the wood. Its restrained geometry provides a calm contrast to the sculptural base, while the tactile surface highlights the warmth and authenticity of the material.
Combining solid chestnut construction, exposed joinery, sculptural furniture design, and architectural proportions, the HUG Table is both a functional dining table and a distinctive collectible design object. A piece rooted in craftsmanship and material honesty, designed around ideas of connection, balance, and permanence.
