Description

This serene figure by Studio Sphaer shines her radiance protectively upon dim corners. Form and colour engage in a playful dance, symbolising the infinite duality and interplay between night and day. In a harmonious composition of glass and ceramic, Hecate wears her crown with pride, serving as a majestic tribute to every facet of light: warming, nurturing, guiding.

Material & Finish
The pendant light Hecate consists of a pink-pigmented glass sphere, over which a dark green ceramic tube forms an arch. At the ends of the arch, there are two pink-painted ceramic spheres. Above the arch, there is another dark green ceramic shape. All the ceramic colours have a matte finish. A suspension tube made of sturdy iron, coloured in gold-silver, keeps the lamp stable and secure, with the length of the suspension being adjustable. The pendant lamp Hecate was handcrafted, making each piece a unique item. Due to this individual manufacturing, the lamps may vary in material and surface from the model shown in the photos. The weight may vary by 1-2 kg, as it is a handmade product.

Product Story
Hecate is synonymous with magic, witchcraft, and the gateway between realms. Famed for her ability to bring light, she guides us through dark hours. “O Hecate,” we entreat her, “supreme deity, who illuminates paths unknown to us, guide us on our journeys and shield us from the perils of the night.”

SPHAER founder Leni Piëch, born in 1993 in Vienna, is a product designer who graduated with honours with a master’s degree in Innovation Management from the renowned Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Her master’s thesis dealt with “feminist worlding”: a deconstruction of human realities in non-human worlds. The focus on the approach of radical otherness and the exploration of non-human dimensions continues in her work as a designer. As a mother of three children, Leni Piëch is interested in setting her dream vision of “worlding” in motion: She designs worlds as mindsets and perspectives that include approaches and sensitivities to make visible the diversity of interrelationships and entanglements between humans and non-humans in the world. She adopts alternative perspectives, questions existing hierarchies and dominance, and explores new stories and possibilities to promote social innovation and create a more equitable and sustainable world. “Worlding” emphasises the importance of mindfulness and care towards non-human actors. Leni Piëch embodies a visionary who influences the field of product design and interior design with her inspiring idea of the power of worlding.
