ADORNO Is Looking for Mexico’s Next Great Design Studios – Here’s Why Now

The best Mexican studios were never waiting for an invitation. ADORNO is extending one anyway.

Few countries get this much recurring attention on ADORNO. Over the past two years, the editorial desk has returned to Mexican craft again and again. It has covered the designers shaping it. It has walked the halls of ZONAMACO Diseño. Most recently, it mapped how craft, culture, and creative freedom shape the country’s decor and lighting.

That is not a coincidence of scheduling. It reflects what ADORNO’s collectors keep responding to. That means material honesty. It means a direct relationship between maker and workshop. And it means objects that carry history without performing it.

No other country in Latin America generates that level of repeat collector interest on the platform today. That is exactly why the region is where ADORNO is putting more of its curatorial attention going forward. Mexico is where that expansion starts.

Design Destination: Mexico opens with a simple premise. The demand is already there. It is time to widen the roster of studios positioned to meet it.

Why Mexico, and Why Now

Mexico City sits on the remains of Tenochtitlán, and the layering shows. Pre-Columbian references sit beside modernism and brutalism. None of it reads as contradiction.

That patchwork history has produced a design culture built on experimentation rather than repetition. Designers, architects, and artists move between disciplines. They treat the city itself as a laboratory.

Studios build directly with local metalworkers and ceramists. That closeness to the workshop is what a collector is buying. It’s why they choose an authored piece over a manufactured one. ICFF has described the scene in similar terms. ADORNO’s own collectors have shown the same pull, season after season.

Names like Isabel Moncada, Daniel Orozco Estudio, Studio Ayres, Panorammma Atelier, and Axoque Studio already carry that identity on ADORNO. A Mexican studio joining now isn’t introducing the country to ADORNO’s audience. It’s joining a context the audience already trusts. There’s still room for the voices not yet in it.

An Open Call to Mexican Studios

ADORNO is a curated design marketplace. Think part online gallery, part global showroom. It connects independent studios directly with collectors, press, and interior designers across more than 50 countries.

It represents studios rather than simply listing their work. That means shaping how a piece is positioned. It means fielding every buyer conversation. And it means carrying a sale from first enquiry through to delivery, tax, shipping, and payout.

In other words, the selling, the paperwork, and the logistics move to ADORNO. The studio’s time stays with the workshop.

A global sales team handles every buyer conversation, across time zone and language. Tax is calculated automatically for wherever the buyer happens to be. Shipping labels, pickup, and insurance are arranged with minimal back-and-forth once a piece sells.

A studio’s remaining job is simple. Confirm availability through the member dashboard. Pack the piece, and hand it to the courier. Payment then transfers within one to two weeks of confirmed delivery.

Membership runs on a monthly or yearly plan, retaining 60 percent of each sale. After twelve consecutive paid months, a studio can move to a fee-free plan at 50 percent. There’s no exclusivity required. A studio can keep selling anywhere else, provided nothing on ADORNO is priced lower elsewhere.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. An accepted profile typically goes live within one to two weeks.

What’s Coming: Promotion and Visibility for Mexican Studios

Design Destination: Mexico is not a single article. It follows the same shape as ADORNO’s earlier country spotlights. Those ran multi-week, across a scene overview, a materials breakdown, room-by-room selections, and conversations with interior designers.

Studios accepted before and during the campaign are folded directly into that run. That means a member launch introducing the studio across ADORNO’s channels. It means guaranteed placement in the New Drops stream for new pieces. And it means inclusion in whichever country-wide features fit the studio’s material and discipline.

Members also get access to on-demand promotion, at rates well below market. Think curated Instagram placements and editorial features, on top of the visibility that already comes standard with membership. Through ADORNO PRO, a studio’s work also reaches the interior designers and architects who specify collectible pieces for their projects.

For a studio deciding whether this is the right moment, the campaign itself is the answer. Coverage is being built around Mexican design regardless of who is represented inside it. The only open question is which studios get that exposure.

How to Join

The application itself takes a few minutes. Our curators will walk you through anything specific to your practice, including pricing, terms, logistics, and payout schedules. Given the campaign timeline, studios should apply as soon as they’re ready. Waiting for a later round means missing the earliest features.
