Description

This vase by Elena Yakimushkina combines a simple, organic shape with the raw beauty of natural materials. Its warm, earthy tones – a mix of soft whites, beige, and warm browns – are highlighted by abstract patterns that emerged naturally during the wood-firing process. The interaction between shino and ash glazes created unique textures and marks, making this piece truly unique.
The vase feels both modern and timeless, working as a statement art object on its own or as a functional vessel for flowers. Its quiet, understated presence adds a sense of calm and connection to nature in any space.

The vase was finished through wood firing at a temperature of 1300°C.

About Elena Yakimushkina Visit Showroom →

Born on the Baltic Coast, I've always drawn inspiration for my artwork from the serene beauty of northern nature. Ceramics, for me, is not just a craft; it's a lifelong passion and a medium for my creative expression. I am endlessly fascinated by the diverse forms, materials, and techniques that ceramics offer. One of the greatest joys of working with clay is the opportunity to experiment with firing techniques. I have a particular fondness for raku firing and wood firing, drawn to the hands-on nature of these methods and the element of serendipity they bring to the creative process. In each ceramic piece I create, I infuse a part of myself, establishing a profound connection between artist and art. Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey.
