Description

This storage unit had been transformed into a more distinguished formation. Practical in nature, the extraordinary appearance of this object is playful – not only storing objects, but displaying them, in a variety of possibilities, open for exploration. Vidly is made from reclaimed and surplus material found in a local skip. For this occasion, Walnut hardood which was disposed by a local London-based furniture company, has been upcycled into something new.

Vidly will appear as a trophy on the wall, which is indeed similar to the animal antlers it emanates. When StorqueStudios started thinking of this storage idea, the first thing that came to mind was an agricultural tool “Rajtar”, a wooden tripod that was used to dry freshly cut grass . This context fit much better for the human manufactured tool with extraordinary abilities to hold massive piles of hay.

About StorqueStudios Visit Showroom →

KavczuK, Wojtek Kawczyk is the maker behind StorqueStudios, a mikro design practice based in London/Tottenham. Wojtek primarily works with wood waste and the revitalisation of ‘unwanted’ objects. He is focused on the principle of circular economy; working collaboratively with other makers, he captures available construction materials to understand it's inherent properties. Studying the navigation of form and behaviour becomes inspiration for new projects. His aim is to challenge the design discipline, by bringing unconventional solutions to the ‘table’. Through waste management, his practice opens up new studies of materials through function and form. Wojtek is currently working on a short series of furniture that is predestinated for bigger production scale... he believes that contemporary design should be utilitarian and accessible. Production of new original forms such as furniture/ with a built- in circular economy "module" can change the order of consumerism and define a new aesthetic!
