S A L A K ® studio is a creative concept specialized in furniture and interior accessories design. Things we create are made with great passion to detail and simplicity. We believe that the aphorism “less is more” is timeless therefore the minimalist forms will find their place in any space. Paying great attention to durable materials our products are mainly made of metal and solid wood. These hard and seemingly non-pliable resources with the right treatment are amazingly formable. Thanks to that we are able to combine our love to simplicity with the admiration to sculpturesque forms. Minimalism doesn’t have to be boring!Who’s behind it ?Hi! I’m Alicja Korbut and I’m the founder of S A L A K studio. I'm a graduate of Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and an interior designer. In the past years, I had the pleasure to work in the design studios both in Poland and abroad. In 2020 I came back to Poland and decided to start my own workshop to keep on developing my passion for uncommon furniture design. In the studio I’m responsible not only for designing the products, but largely also for creating them. All products are handmade in our own workshop. I treat every order individually, as direct contact with my customers is important to me. I care about creating timeless and durable products. I think that furniture should last for years, that’s why SALAK is based on high quality materials. We create furniture, which we’d love to use ourselves!What does SALAK mean ?In some countries, the word “salak” is used as a term describing a particular shade of white, which is similar to the color of salak palm tree fruits. As our premiere BASIC collection was based on this color, this word became an inspiration for our brand’s name. At the same time, it turned out to be an informal abbreviation connecting my first and last name, which all together has a sentimental meaning to me.
