Description

Mystère is a sculptural wall-mounted console created in collaboration with artist and wood sculptor Tomasz Omachel. Its elongated, organic silhouette is hand-carved from solid ash. The asymmetrical line stretches and swells, flowing seamlessly into the sculptural body, as if the form had been captured in motion.

An integral part of the composition is a cast brass front with a patinated finish, its surface covered in a relief of small, rounded protrusions. This textured element contrasts with the smooth, flowing lines of the wood, introducing a distinct rhythm and tactile quality. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a tension between organic form and the precision of the metal detail.

In Mystère, material, proportion and sculptural gesture become the essential elements of the composition. Suspended from the wall, with no legs or floor support, the console exists simultaneously as a functional piece of furniture and an autonomous sculptural object. It is a functional object transposed into the realm of sculpture.

About PALUCKI Studio Visit Showroom →

Mateusz Palucki is a Polish designer and artisan whose practice explores the intersection of collectible design, craftsmanship and the decorative arts. Based between Paris and Poland, he develops furniture, lighting and sculptural objects in his atelier, working alongside his brother Robert Palucki, an artisan specialising in woodworking, construction and lighting.More than a decade of working as an artisan in France has shaped Mateusz’s hands-on approach to creation, fostering an intimate understanding of materials, traditional techniques and the relationship between an idea and its physical realisation. His visual language draws on the elegance and material richness of Art Deco, the organic lines of Art Nouveau and the expressive possibilities of biomorphism. Nature serves as a constant source of inspiration, particularly its structural forms, animal anatomy and the balance between geometry and organic growth. The brothers’ work brings together sculptural silhouettes, tactile surfaces and contrasting materials. Solid oak, reclaimed and bog oak, ash, leather, shagreen and brass form part of their material vocabulary. Each is selected for its particular character, texture and expressive potential, allowing the material itself to contribute to the identity of each object.
