The Dendê Dining Table incorporates remnants of ceramic tile, marble, glass, and jatobá wood flooring. The base is steel with electrostatic paint.

‘Dendê’ is a furniture collection rooted in myths and inspired by the beliefs of Afro-diasporic culture. In the search for alternative oils and waxes of vegetable origin, the studio explores the poetic and experimental potential of palm oil, extracting the maximum beauty from its reddish-orange color when used to finish wood. All the material choices used in ‘Dendê’ were meticulously articulated and considered within the symbolism present in Afro-Brazilian stories, aligned with the studio’s existing work with waste and discarded materials.

Assimply Studio is an experimental design studio based in Rio de Janeiro created by the couple Victor Xavier, Brazilian, and Søren Hallberg Søndergaard, Danish.Inspired by their diverse roots, Assimply’s DNA is a blend of Brazilian bossa and Scandinavian minimalism.
