Axel Drawer Nightstand in Chestnut Wood
by Mike Hausmann · Barcelona, Spain

The AXEL Nightstand is a compact solid wood piece that combines minimalist design, architectural proportions, and traditional craftsmanship. Conceived as a quiet and functional volume, its restrained geometry allows the natural character and depth of the wood to become the main expression of the design.

Available in solid chestnut or French walnut, AXEL is defined by clean lines, balanced proportions, and subtle sculptural details. A gently curved cut at the base visually lightens the monolithic structure while adding a discreet sense of movement.

The construction remains intentionally visible, with exposed joinery at key structural intersections. Rather than concealing the connections, AXEL makes craftsmanship part of its aesthetic language, highlighting the precision and permanence of traditional woodworking.

The nightstand is available in two configurations: an open version with a fixed shelf, or a drawer version featuring traditional dovetail joinery. The visible dovetails add a distinctive cabinetmaking detail while expressing durability, precision, and the human hand behind the piece.

Combining solid wood construction, minimalist furniture design, traditional joinery, and considered proportions, the AXEL Nightstand is a versatile bedside table with a calm, timeless character. Its natural grain, tactile surfaces, and carefully resolved details allow it to integrate effortlessly into contemporary interiors while developing greater character over time.
