Madrid Design Festival 2026: A City Redesigning the World

Madrid Design Festival has returned for its ninth edition, and is in full swing from February 5 to March 8, 2026, once again turning the city into a network of exhibitions, installations, open studios, and conversations. With more than 30 exhibitions, 800 professionals, 300 locations and over 100 hours of programming, the scale alone signals how design now operates as culture rather than category. Under the theme Redesigning the World, this year’s edition framed design across four dimensions: responsibility, transcendence, impact, and transmission.

FORMA Design Fair

A major addition this year is FORMA Design Fair, Spain’s first fair dedicated to collectible design. Hosted at Matadero Madrid, FORMA creates a focused marketplace where studios, galleries, and collectors meet. The fair strengthens Madrid’s role within the international collectible design landscape and signals a clear investment in collectible practice. Among the participating studios are Marco Calhau, Pablo Ejarque-González, and Estudio Material. Each approaches form and fabrication from a distinct angle, spanning material experimentation, controlled imperfection, and contemporary craft.

Mediterranean Manifesto

At Teatro Fernán Gómez, Mediterranean Manifesto gathers more than thirty artists, designers, and craftspeople in a reflection on the Mediterranean as cultural, material, and symbolic territory. Curated by Mariona Rubio Sabatés, the exhibition places unique pieces and research-driven processes in dialogue, foregrounding craft as a living practice. Participating ADORNO designers are SK – Sofia Karnukaeva, Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, ESTO, and Los Objetos Decorativos, each contributing work rooted in material exploration and contemporary interpretation of regional identity.

Transylvanian Design Week

At the Romanian Cultural Institute Gallery, Transylvanian Design Week presents a selection of designers from the 2023 and 2025 biennial editions, highlighting how regional traditions inform contemporary practice across disciplines. Catrinel Săbăciag represents our platform within this exhibition, reinforcing the international scope of our community and the ongoing exchange between local heritage and global design discourse.

DOMUS NOVA Curated by MANERA Magazine & Santa Living

At the Renaissance Courtyard of the San Isidro Museum, DOMUS NOVA, curated by MANERA Magazine and Santa Living, unfolds as a reflection on the home as lived space rather than fixed structure. The exhibition brings together 44 designs from 33 studios in dialogue with archaeological artifacts from the museum’s Los Orígenes de Madrid collection, with everyday objects framed as material traces of how we inhabit the present. Among the participating designers are ESTO, Los Objetos Decorativos, Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, Rosana Sousa, Szymon Keller, Fenna Kosfeld and Ultramar Studio. Their works sit alongside historical fragments, reinforcing the idea that contemporary design carries its own imprint of time, gesture, and daily ritual.

What This Edition Signals

Madrid Design Festival 2026 continues through March 8, activating more than 30 exhibitions and nearly 300 venues across the city. From FORMA Design Fair, Mediterranean Manifesto, Transylvanian Design Week, and DOMUS NOVA, the program spans collectible design, craft research, and contemporary reflections on how we live. With two weeks still ahead, the city remains open as a living design map, inviting visitors to experience firsthand how design is shaping culture, material practice, and everyday life in real time.
