This exquisite bench draws inspiration from the principles of materiality, purism, and Japanese design. Crafted from Italian chestnut wood and concrete, it showcases the perfect balance of natural elegance and minimalist beauty. Handmade in Germany, this one-of-a-kind collector’s piece emphasizes clean lines and thoughtful craftsmanship, making it a statement in any space.

Reworked antique Italian wood floors, recovered from old buildings in northern Italy – combined with brutalist concrete fragments: A clash of two worlds.
Rooted in our practice, we regularly create concrete objects, using our specialized reinforcement techniques. Inspired by unique materials and Japanese design principles we wanted to incorporate antique wood into our design, to add warmth and character. As a result this bench was brought to life, using fragments of antique Italian chestnut floors, giving them a new life, while also using their features to direct the design process of a modern counterpart, using uniquely shaped concrete.

Founded by a team of interdisciplinary designers with backgrounds in both visual culture and crafts, case studios works across the disciplines of product, interior, and artistic installation with the intention of the development and execution of ideas. Based on a variety of projects and designs, ranging from kitchens and vases to benches and sidetables, case studios specialised in the processing of a signature concrete, with extra strong and delicate edges, to create unique shapes and forms. With each object, the design studio manifests a case study of a new material or concept, gradually adding stainless steel, glas, wood and natural stone to their expertise.
