The A2 Chair by Luiz Solano is crafted from a folded aluminum sheet and four square tubular profiles with plastic tips. The sheet is laser-cut and folded such that three identical flaps structure the armrests and backrest. The support flaps are bent at a 90° angle, serving as mounts for the aluminum profiles, which are fastened with screws. The backrest flap, in turn, is bent at a 75° angle, offering comfortable body support with a slight flex.
A2 is the sixth series developed by the studio, continuing its exploration of form and materiality. The furniture pieces stem from simple formal operations, leveraging the possibilities of each material. In the A2 series, the folding of the aluminum sheet was the initial operation that defined the seat and its interface with the body, while the aluminum profiles contrast with the lightness of the surface, adding rigidity and channeling the weight directly to the ground.
Folded aluminum sheet with electrostatic powder coating.
