    Description

    Inspired by the graceful yet formidable mantis insect, the MANTIS collection by Riya Panchal of MESEME Studio marries organic elegance with contemporary design. The lamp’s gentle sway when touched adds a touch of whimsy, echoing the stealthy movements. Crafted using making techniques as their previous CONCHA Pendant Light Collection, the MANTIS collection is an evolving collection of table, floor and wall lamps. Available in two different metal finishes – brushed brass and brushed aluminium and choice of specialist paper colour-ways, it invites us to embrace the forms of nature and its simplicity.

    Poised, delicate and playful – the MANTIS Table Lamp is handcrafted at our North London-based workshop. The fixture boasts a unique paper type that blends paper and non-woven fabric. Visible on the surface are the very fibres that give this paper its distinctive character. Striking both visually and texturally, it also offers surprising versatility. When held to the light, the paper takes on a warm sheen. The paper shade, reminiscent of a mantis’s extended forelimbs, and the slender, curved arm, echoing the insect’s elongated body, create a harmonious and visually appealing silhouette when combined with the ellipsoid light source.
