Description

So Many stories and Ink is Too Expensive. (2024)

This side table is an ongoing development into a growing collection of furniture based on the designer’s Cut + Stick process.

The Cut + Stick collection is the result of recognizing the potential that the timber offcuts that frequently litter any wood workshop hold. The designed adopted a shift in mindset, viewing this abundant stream of timber offcuts as an opportunity to create, rather than seeing them simply as bins of material that need emptying each week.

Individually, these random offcuts pose little to no value – but when collected, organized, and glued together, these offcuts take on a new value. They create a unique patchwork that celebrates the beauty and unique nature of timber characteristics as a collective – whilst also providing a commentary on the biodiversity in the woodlands that these trees once came from.

The piece has been oiled with Manns Trade Bar Top Lacquer.
