    Description

    This bespoke hand-made side table is part of a wider “Industrial Craft” collection featuring sculptural tables and decorative vessels. A material led project, the focus is concentrated on the transformation of polyurethane foam dust that comes as a by-product from CNC fabrication companies. Table 03 is made from recycled polyurethane foam dust and resin to create a new durable composite material. The materials characteristics are highlighted within the table to show both it’s natural textures as well as are refined and controlled. Sculptural and functional elements are equal within this hand crafted piece. Both tables within the collection are made to order meaning each piece is bespoke.

    Charlotte Kidger is a Material Designer based in London UK. Recently graduating from MA Material Futures at Central Saint Martins June 2018. With an academic background in Surface Design & Printed Textiles and an MA in Material Futures. Professional experience sees work for Trend & CMF studios in London including Colour Hive (MIX Magazine), Chris Lefteri Design & many other freelance clients. With a process driven hands-on approach to work with materials, she explores the possibilities of using secondary raw materials to create innovative and exciting new outcomes with a core focus on materiality. Using a wide range of traditional techniques and processes, new materials are re-engineered and revalued to reveal their future potential and use. All materials and objects are highly crafted by hand with little or no waste and energy throughout the making process. Currently developing existing projects and working on commissions and freelance roles. Please get in touch for any future collaborations or commissions.
