Description

Mediterranean-inspired, from the Maghreb Ksar, the “Confidente”, a two-seater chair made of raw earth oils and natural waxes, is a metaphor and abstraction of the collective dwellings typical of Morocco. A reinterpretation of the living space, synthesized and maximized in the communicative value, aims to create, itself, a place of sharing and conversation.

With references, in terms of product, to the most classic Lombard advisors, typically in wrought iron, the seat is an element that emphasizes and favors the conversation and exchange.

With its almost primitive and deliberately monolithic forms, it identifies as an element that suggests and reminds the viewer of the need and pleasure in stopping and in dialogue.

About the designer

Studio Terre

Represented by Galerie Philia STUDIO TERRE, an experimental art studio where art is created from the act of living, we create collectible sculptural design pieces, and we believe in the philosophy of slow living. The creative flow instructs every aspect of the life of Nino, artist and co-founder together with Riccardo, and Jufà, another artist of the group. Mediterranee, through their creations, want to take you to the unique, utopian place where their vision of the world and of things is. \"We think that art is a reflection of society and of what happens in that particular historical period. In the moment of great change in which we find ourselves, more than ever we feel the need to focus and communicate something true, we try to take a step back and focus on what we think is important, in our vision there is a strong call to home, tradition and the land. A return to the roots and foundations of our culture. \" By creating unique pieces, without creative constraints, art, craftsmanship and design come together. Without setting limits, therefore, in terms of materials, techniques and tools to be used in order to communicate their vision: the need to return to a Mediterranean way of life, linked to the origins. \"We embrace the philosophy of slow design to move further and further away from the frenzy and alienation that today\'s society secretly imposes on you, we try to return to more natural rhythms.\"

Presenting “PROXIMITY”, a collection created in collaboration with Southern Sweden Design Days showcasing a selection of new work from ten designers and studios. As a whole, the collection contemplates the notion of proximity, interconnection, and belonging. Whether through contemporary references to traditional crafts techniques; the use of locally sourced materials such as wool, lichen, steel, and wood; or playful visualisations of the notion itself, the selected pieces illustrate the importance of closeness, interconnection, and kinship in uncertain times. Featuring pieces by Andrea Santivanez, Andréason & Leibel, Ebba Lindgren, Förstberg Ling, Jóna Berglind Stefánsdóttir, Lab La Bla, Lisa Darland, Louise Hederström, Moa Lönn, and Studio M. Organised by Form/Design Center in Malmö, Sweden, Southern Sweden Design Days is an annual event currently in its second edition, which highlights sustainability, collaboration, development, and innovation in design. This year’s theme, as described by the event organisers, “[reflects] on the notion of being close – the connection between people, cities, countries, species, professions, etc”. The physical exhibition of “PROXIMITY” will take place at Lokstallarna, Södra Bulltoftavägen 51, 212 22 Malmö from 19 - 22 May 2022.
