The Distressed Sandstone Collection is a series of hand-thrown vessels made from tan stoneware with an elegant surface texture. This intricate process begins with a cylinder thrown on the wheel from tan clay. The surface layer is dried with a heat gun and the white slip is applied. The slip is dried with heat and the sodium silicate is applied. After undergoing another round of heat to the surface, the vessel is then shaped from the inside using one hand to push the walls out. This process breaks the dried layer of clay creating a delicate cracked texture, inspired by Wabi Sabi principles.
