Description

This one-of-a-kind floor lamp is crafted from a repurposed side table, a vintage lamp, remnants of white marble, and an artisanal lampshade. This sculptural piece has been enhanced by fire-burning the wood using the Yakisugi technique and is elegantly finished with natural oil and beeswax. The lamp’s base is lined with a fine layer of cork to safeguard your furniture from any potential scratches.

The lamp belongs to the Melting Collection, a series that seeks to spotlight the urgent narrative of our planet’s accelerated climate change. The prevailing impact of human activities has made phenomena such as melting ice caps and tundras a part of our daily existence. The fusion of wood and marble in this design serves as a poignant reminder and a call to collective action in defense of our environment.

Every component of this lamp is imbued with history. The materials, sourced from scrapyards, abandoned pieces on city streets, and residues from demolished structures, have been given a new lease on life. The act of breathing new purpose into these repurposed materials is both a profound challenge and a source of joy. It stands as a testament to the myriad possibilities that arise when we envision a future that doesn’t further deplete nature’s reserves.

The bulb socket is E27.
The plug type is Euro-plug or you can choose US-plug too.
The included light bulb is 240V, E27 standard bulb.
On/Off switch is built-in the body of the lamp.

About Gábor Góbi Visit Showroom →

For Gabor, creation is a journey of discovery. He is dedicated to designing in harmony with the environment, always allowing the present moment and inherent potential of an object to guide him. This philosophy is echoed in gobi.design, where the mission is to seamlessly blend eco-consciousness with a passion for design. Gabor envisions a world where everyone equally benefits from a pristine environment, fostering sustainable lifestyles. He perceives this mission as both a privilege and a profound responsibility — the very catalyst for meaningful change. Items crafted under gobi.design participate in nature's eternal cycle. Drawing inspiration from upcycling, hygge, wabi-sabi, slow living, degrowth, and related movements, these creations persist, constantly reshaped by both gentle and formidable forces. Gabor leans heavily on natural materials, often employing traditional methods like Yakisugi, the Japanese art of preserving wood by charring. His range spans furniture to accessories and sculptures, but all pieces share a singular origin: they are reclaimed from waste.
