Simple yet sculptural, the Layout Dining Chair is a minimalist view of what a chair outline is. The backrest features a slight curve that is milled into a solid piece of wood by hand with a router. They are glued to 90-degree junction pieces to join everything together in a simple stroke. To assure a minimalistic look without compromising solidity, the legs are mechanically assembled in the seating and the backrest. The piece can be assembled in a matter of minutes after being received. You can choose between two wood species. White ash wood will give you the most textured look with a bigger grain and a lighter tone when chosen with no stain. On the other hand, white oak is more color consistent, offers a sand-like tone, and is heavier than ash. Both offer outstanding durability. We finish our piece with a hybrid between oil and wax. This finish does not compromise the look and feel of oiled furniture, and the wax part makes it more durable than a traditional finish. Alternatively, we can do custom wood species and finish to your liking.
This piece is part of the Layout Collection. Heavily inspired by the simplicity of the slab and column construction system used in concrete buildings, The Layout Collection aims to be simple and adaptable in various ways and offer similar aesthetics in a variety of furniture. Handcrafted in our Montréal workshop, we select each plank of wood to make sure every aspect is right in terms of finish and quality.
