Knot VI is a pendant lamp by Studio Pien Post. Fascinated by the different connotations evoked by rope, Pien ties knots — restricting and securing, fetishized and practical, folkloric and banal. Through a process of knotting, dyeing, unravelling and binding, the ropes are transformed into maximalist, radical objects. Part of an ongoing research, the final shapes of the KNOT series are the results of measured choices in colour, texture and composition.
With Knot VI the designer dives deeper into the endless possibilities of rope as a material. Working with the TextielLab, she created her own rope — each yarn handpicked. The resulting 50 metres of colourful rope are knotted into a new, one-of-a-kind ceiling lamp.
