Incidence No. 01 – Mirror

I am a Brazilian designer whose practice operates at the intersection of industrial precision and material investigation. Based in Rio de Janeiro, I approach design through a structural understanding of production systems, examining how light, time and environmental exposure act directly upon matter.My education in Design in Rio de Janeiro established a rigorous approach to construction, fabrication processes and the physical behavior of materials. Over more than a decade developing authorial pieces and collaborating with industry, I have consolidated a language grounded in formal reduction, geometric tension and the controlled adaptation of industrial techniques to limited-edition production.I primarily work with metal, glass, concrete and treated reflective surfaces. Processes such as controlled oxidation, metal fabrication and mirror manipulation are used to investigate surface not as finish, but as an active field of transformation. I am particularly interested in how reflection can be interrupted, filtered or absorbed, and how material alteration can register time and exposure.A recurring theme in my work is the relationship between presence and absence. Rather than treating light as a symbolic element, I construct objects that respond physically to its action. I operate at the boundary between functional object and sculptural artifact, positioning design as a field of formal and sensory inquiry.Each piece functions as an interface between material, environment and perception, maintaining structural discipline while approaching the expanded territory of art.
