Tired of running away from pollution? What if the plastic infesting our oceans finally became the center of our attention? It was with this in mind that we chose to install recycled plastic in the center of the mirror. As a result, humans are no longer the center of attention and are forced to shift their gaze to see their reflection.
As mentioned, the mirror has a hole in the center. On the front, a 150 mm diameter circle made from recycled plastic crosses the mirror to hold it in place. This circle is sculpted in the shape of a wave to evoke the origin of this material. On the back, another recycled plastic plate is attached, allowing the mirror to be hung on the wall without damaging it. This hanging system is secured by two Z-shaped brackets, making installation easy.

The design studio “pirouette.” conceptualized, imagined, and designed this object, then assembled and sculpted the plastic. The recycled plastic was shaped by “La Plastiquerie” from plastic recovered from the ocean. The plastic and mirror were cut by two companies in the south of France. The “Galerie des Curiosités” is behind this collaboration.
